Hogan has been waiting patiently for his FUR-EVER home..
Hogan has been my foster for over 10 months, we have had our ups and downs but these days he makes my proud and gives me the strenth I sometimes need during the trying times that arrise in rescue. I fell in love with this handsome man the minute I met him and will continue to foster him until the day I can find him a loving home. Since moving into our new home in late December, Hogan has become attached to all of the kids in the neighborhood. At first the parents were hesitant to let there young children play with the "vicious" breed of dog. Finally after many visits over my house and some good old education Hogan was allowed to play and now has a line at the door whenever I get home (I don't know how all of you do it with kids but GOD BLESS you!!). Hogan is a couch potato and spends the weekend with his foster daddy watching Soccer on the big screen and gets just as excited as his daddy when a goal is scored!! Hogan's new best friend is Lola, a 12 week old Boston Terrier. I think Lola is his new girlfriend, he is so sweet with her!!Hogan does well with everyone and loves cats, dogs, and puppies..His temperment is amazing!!Hogan just celebrated his 1st birthday and is looking for a big family to love..
just wanted to keep everyone updated..
Hogan is in a wonderful home that is in a foster to adopt contract, they know they want him forever they just want to make sure he loves them just as much..he has been there for several weeks and everything is going well. He had some issues at first but with a little owner education things are looking up..keeping my fingers crossed..

Did you show them the two week shut down? Oh I can't stress enough how important that is and how amazingly well it works to help a new dog make that transition. Fingers crossed here too! Hoping it works out well for Hogan.
HOGAN BACK AT THE HOUSE
Sorry to say that Hogan is back at the house, the people just didn't want to put all the hard work in, I gave them all the tools they needed and the got discouraged. We have a couple more app's on him so the search will continue..

Do they not want another dog at all now? Do they even have another dog? Do they want to try Mia??
lol I can't help but try! What the hell is with people!? Try harder, make that commitment!
Re: Hogan has been waiting patiently for his FUR-EVER home..
they said that they just don't feel like they can handle a dog at there age and they don't wanna do all the training and things that go with it..they just gave up and it is a shame because they were really nice people but i think they realized they weren't ready to own a pet..

aw, i love him so much. he is beautiful. i hope something works out
Re: Hogan has been waiting patiently for his FUR-EVER home..
What form of training has Hogan had? I mean, what method has he learned under? Does he just need proofing or does he need full on formal training? What's his personality like? Is he hard to handle or very independent? What were the complaints from the adoptive home in particular? Did they continue with the training he'd previously had?
I ask because if there's anything we can offer to help with his placement in a true forever home... we'd like to try, but we'll need details in order to come up with the right suggestions.

Hogan has had basic obedience training along with Nothing in Life is Free program, we used these methods with our dogs (i believe it was called something else) he is extremely obedient, he listens and he is very easy to handle. The home he was in said that whenever they took there eyes off him for one sec he would go do something destructuve but he has never done this in my home, whenever he is lying around he will find a toy or just hang out, I NEVER take my eyes off him and he has never chewed on anything in my house. Hogan loves to be around other people and he grew up with my two dogs. He is always submissive, eager to please, likes to be in his crate when no-one is at home or when he is sleeping. I know that the people that took him did not obide by basic guidelines and I have started all over again with him because they were letting him on the furniture and giving him to much freedom, i took it all away and like i said we are starting all over. He is a great dog well mannered, we had family here and he was so well behaved, he is extremely calm and a joy to be around, i think we just havent found the right home..

Well gosh... I dunno what to tell ya then. We've had some problems with finding serious interest in Mia too so I know how frustrating it can be to not know what the problem is. I'd love to meet Hogan one of these days if my schedule will ever allow me to visit one of your events.

I just don't get it, i did all the work, he has lived with me for over a year!! All I am asking for is someone to pass the torch to, he is a wonderful dog..everyone wants a puppy "so they can raise it" but those are the dogs in the shelter with behavior problems...I just don't understand people at all and I would love for you to meet him he turned out to be a charming boy!!

Hell, Cyrus was in rescue for over a year before I came along and adopted him. He's a friggin dork to say the least and I look at him and shake my head and want to laugh at the people who passed him up. Someone will come along, I just wish it would happen sooner than later.
Re: Hogan has been waiting patiently for his FUR-EVER home..
I was just thinking, take a mini vid of him and get it uploaded on petfinder. Change his pictures around too. Keep people looking at him that way!
